B.E. Meyers & Co., Inc. pioneered electro-optic technologies for military and law enforcement applications. Established by Brad Meyers and Nancy Meyers in 1974, B.E. Meyers & Co. is a privately-owned, mid-sized defense contractor located in Redmond, Washington. Drawing from an experienced high-tech workforce of engineers and production technicians, B.E. Meyers & Co. Advanced Photonics designs and builds high-quality laser-based defense technology products to meet the extreme demands of war-time applications in hostile environments.

Products include visible, near infrared, and SWIR aiming, illumination, and pointing lasers as well as non-lethal laser dazzlers for escalation of force. B.E. Meyers & Co. lasers are in use on individual weapons, crew-served weapons, and as integral offensive components on fixed-wing aircraft, rotary-wing-aircraft, and various configurations of unmanned ground vehicles and airborne systems. Customers include all US military branches, including most Special Operations Forces, many US Prime Contractors, NATO military elements, major law enforcement organizations, and US intelligence agencies.

Manufacturing capabilities are centralized in a facility of 62,000+ square feet that supports design, development, production, and administration. The facility also supports continuing research and development in optical, electrical, and mechanical engineering. Modern facilities are complemented with a world-class ERP system which drives our ISO 9001 certified quality management systems. This environment is fully support by product data management (PDM) and change control software. As a result, B.E. Meyers & Co. is currently able to meet the exhaustive quality and documentation requirements of the largest Prime Contractors while still moving quickly to bring new products to market.

Milestones:

1974: Founder Brad and Nancy Meyers’ original Seattle-based company, SeaMesh Corporation, an underwater explosives venture, evolves into B.E. Meyers & Co. in 1974 as a home astronomy business.
1983: Brad Meyers develops the Dark Invader, a versatile night vision system catered to the needs of federal agencies and other law enforcement surveillance applications.
1987: B.E. Meyers & Co. develops its first near infrared pointing and illumination laser systems in response to longer-range surveillance and night observation needs.
1992: The company begins transitioning towards a focus in laser technology, introducing the first variants of the Infrared Zoom Laser Illuminator Designator (IZLID) and Green Beam Designator (GBD) laser product line.
1999: The Optoelectronics Systems segment begins here. B.E. Meyers & Co. continues to evolve the laser technology into new pods for fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft, providing critical capabilities that would shape the future fight.
2001: The B.E. Meyers & Co. team begins preparations for the large-scale support of America’s military response in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, and later in Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
2004: B.E. Meyers & Co. develops higher powered green lasers specifically for non-lethal hail and warning. The implementation of this technology fundamentally altered Escalation of Force doctrine, and reduced checkpoint fatalities dramatically.
2010: B.E. Meyers & Co. products are sought after by the international military community, supporting allied forces in dozens of nations across the globe.
2016: Under its second generation of family leadership, B.E. Meyers & Co. introduces all new innovative product families including the MAWL®. The success and safety of the warfighter remain the company’s primary focus.
2023: For over 49 years, B.E. Meyers & Co. has worked diligently to ensure it remains intimately connected to the emerging needs of its customers. As we continue to evolve as a company into new technologies and applications, our culture of curiosity, innovation, and enthusiasm will remain steadfast.

Manufacturing capability is a core competency of B.E. Meyers & Co. We currently have research and development and production facilities in Redmond, WA with approximately 70,000 square feet of space, 87 employees and are a certified Small Business. The facility contains multiple laser‐safe production and test “tunnels” ambient light controlled areas for testing night vision and laser products, production areas divided by product focus, and R&D areas for optical, electronic, software, and mechanical engineering.

In addition to standard equipment for production of optoelectronic equipment (e.g., power supplies, soldering equipment, microscopes, power meters, beam profilers, flow benches, an optical comparator), B.E. Meyers & Co., Inc. also owns several spectrophotometers, analog and digital oscilloscopes, data acquisition equipment, environmental chambers, an EMI pre-compliance chamber, and a full production machine shop. B.E. Meyers & Co., Inc. engineering staff utilize high‐end computer workstations with SOLIDWORKS®, LabVIEW, and Altium® software. B.E. Meyers & Co., Inc. uses Adobe Creative Cloud and KeyShot® for creating, copying and editing still and video images. B.E. Meyers & Co., Inc. facilities meet all environmental laws and regulations of federal, state, and local Governments for, but not limited to, the following groups: airborne emissions, waterborne effluents, external radiation levels, outdoor noise, solid and bulk waste disposal practices, and handling and storage of toxic and hazardous materials.

B.E. Meyers & Co., Inc. complies with all U.S. export laws and regulations, such as the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Senior management established the necessary organizational structure to comply with these laws and is committed to ensuring that sufficient resources are available for this purpose. B.E. Meyers & Co., Inc. has an Export Compliance Policy and Procedures Manual which reflects our high awareness of the importance of export control in our operations. It also reflects our commitments and obligations under laws and regulations, such as the ITAR and EAR. In addition to the manual, B.E. Meyers & Co., Inc. performs regular company-wide, new hire and business unit training sessions.
